Monthly Friendship Dinners
In June 2016, First Day launched its Friendship Dinner program, where in local churches, civic organizations and community groups, volunteer on a monthly basis to provide dinner for our shelter participants. These dinners provide an opportunity for our local supporters to break bread with First Day shelter residents, building friendship and a sense of community and most importantly, helping to break down the stereotypical concepts that perpetuate homelessness. Whittier Area Community Church provided our inaugural dinner and since then has been joined by the East Whittier Presbyterian Church and the Church of Latter Day Saints in Whittier. If your church or community group is interested in learning more about First Day’s Friendship Dinner program, please contact info@whittierfirstday.org.
